Even
tiny homes necessitate a project or two.
But, you know what? With tiny
homes come tiny projects. J Honestly,
I'd be bored out of my skin if I didn’t have something on my "To Do"
list every now and then.
First
up was to use finish nails to tack all the loose trim pieces back into
place. Quick and simple and it looks so
much nicer now not having loose trim sticking out in places.
Before Faux curtains and brackets that stuck way out. |
After I think it opens it up quite a bit. |
Next
was to remove all the faux curtains. I
didn’t care for them and they weren't really serving any real purpose. I like how uncluttered it makes things look
now that they are gone and the plastic tie-backs are no longer a safety
hazard. They stuck out quite a bit and
had sharp edges to scratch yourself on.
And nearly all the clips to hold the mini blinds in place at the bottom
were broken so I removed them as well.

A
broken support to the shelf under the kitchen sink pretty much rendered this
space useless. In a tiny home that just
can't be. Originally the shelf was held
in place with some wimpy wire staples. I
used a couple of drywall screws, careful to make sure they weren't too long,
and we are back in business. Now my
kitchen and laundry supplies have a proper place to be.

Amazingly,
the cabinetry in this trailer is in incredible condition. I've had to adjust a few catches on the
closet doors to adjust so they would close properly and that has been about
it. There were a few scuffs from normal
wear and tear in some places. I quickly
took care of that with a piece of paper toweling and some brown shoe
polish. After going over the scuffed
areas you can hardly tell there was a scuff.
The really big spot on one of the kitchen drawers now looks like a part
of the wood grain.
Yesterday
I put in new wall anchors and reattached the closet rod in the girl's
closet. Now they have a place to hang up
their jackets and what have you and I get some more space in my closet as a
result. I also ran shoe polish over the
fronts of their drawers and the closet door so all the scuffs are nicely
covered up.
It is
still a work in progress and I expect it will be for awhile. It is coming together quite nicely though. I just keep working on it. J
I agree with you. I would be bored out of my wits with projects to do. Great job on all the projects, especially the window.

Thanks Jill. I think the removal of the curtains was a wise decision. :)
DeleteYou are making some wonderful improvements. I like what you did with the window and cabinets. Great before and after photos.
ReplyDeleteHow is the new school year going for your daughters?
I have been busy reading your back story. I wish you all the
best with your move and other changes.

Thanks Mary. The girls are loving their new home and their new school. Already making new friends. They seem genuinely happy which is the best a parent can hope for. Take care! :)
