Friday
night I made a couple of pizzas for supper.
We took them over to our friends and enjoyed them while we watched the
opening ceremony for the Olympic games.
It was an exquisite show.
As
promised I am sharing the recipe one of our favorite pizzas.
Gourmet Sausage Pizza
1 pizza dough ball
1/2 lb. pork sausage, browned and drained
1 Tbs. olive oil
1 Tbs. pesto
3/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
1 Tbs. grated parmesan
1 Roma tomato, sliced
1/2 tsp. dried basil
Roll out your dough and brush with olive
oil. Evenly spread out the pesto over
the crust.
Sprinkle with mozzarella and
parmesan. Cover cheese layer with about
1/2 to 3/4 cup of sausage.
Top with
sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle dried basil
over pizza.
Bake at 425 for 12 to 15 minutes until
crust begins to brown and cheese is bubbly.
I also
made this pizza too using some leftover ham and veggies.
Ham & Veggie Pizza
1 pizza dough ball
3 Tbs. pizza sauce
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 slice of ham, finely diced
1/5 of a bell pepper, diced
1 thick slice of onion, diced
2 mushrooms, sliced
6 olives, sliced
It
doesn't get much thriftier than that.
All of these toppings were hanging out in the refrigerator just waiting
for something to do. J
Homemade
pizza is not only inexpensive but healthy too.
My whole wheat pizza dough costs mere pennies to make up and is super
easy. I love that once my canvas is rolled
out on the pizza pan then my imagination can take over. There is no limit to the delicious pizzas we
can create.
YUMMY!! The opening ceremony was amazing. Canada is doing great too. Yay!!
ReplyDeleteIn our house we root for Canada, USA and China. USA of course, because that is where we're at, China because both of my girls were born there and Canada because you're our neighbor. That's how we roll. :)
