Spring Cleaning - Tiny House Style

The first nice day of the year found me cleaning and airing out the mansion.  We opened the windows and the door then vacuumed and scrubbed every nook and cranny.  An hour later, yeah that's right it only took an hour, we headed outside and swept the slab, defrosted and washed out the mini fridge, made a perimeter sweep to pick up trash that had blown into the pasture, dumped the trash and the recycle bin.  That took about forty five minutes, only because the ice in the mini fridge took half an hour to soften and come loose.

Once we were done we enjoyed a bowl of ice cream and patted ourselves on the back.  I can definitely get used to this!

Notice how short this post is.  That's because there just isn't that much to tell.  I love it!!

  1. That certain is one huge advantage of a small home! I can't claim to ever have particularly done 'spring cleaning' until now. It's taking me a week just to do the bathroom - mainly because I only do it 30 minutes or so a day and I had a couple of days off after a particularly hard work out left me semi-crippled. I do the hygienic stuff but cleaning out all the cupboards and dusting on top of the curtain rail is sort of new territory for me - it usually gets taken care of when we move or re-decorate a room. I claim no prizes for housekeeping, obviously! Still, it's great that you can get yours all tidy in so little time. Powerful lesson in that!

    1. I used to devote every weekend for a month to spring cleaning our old house. Then I'd make a list and start on maintenance and repairs. Owning a home is a lot of work. This time I was actually shocked when I got done so quickly. I really expected it to take longer. So glad it didn't though.

  2. 45 minutes? Really? That's quite fast! And you made spring cleaning sound so easy. You must be someone who never let your house gets so messy, so there wouldn’t have to be a huge housework task to be done on spring cleaning time. Have a good day!

  3. I assume there’s not much to tell, because you’ve done things quite fast but orderly. If one can do this type of cleaning every day, there wouldn’t be much to do come spring cleaning day. That is a good thing, since it means you can allot that beautiful spring day into doing meaningful things with your love ones, rather than spend it dusting and scrubbing walls and floors.
