Grocery Budget Update - June

This month was MUCH better for me staying on budget and having a better hold on things.  As you will notice I spent more on meat than I normally do by buying a pork roast, some ground pork and a very large package of lean ground beef.  Both the roast and the ground beef were used for some investment cooking I did during the month.

I spent $24.64 of our $25.00 non-food budget primarily on cat food and litter as well as freezer bags and containers for the investment cooking.  I also stocked up on dish soap purchased on sale and with coupons.

This is what I bought for groceries this month:

  1. I am really impressed with your grocery shopping. My best buy lately was 35 cent avocados. Yum yum!

  2. I always find the prices so interesting... I just bought a dozen eggs on sale today for $2.69. Green peppers are $4.00/lb right now! :( I'm hoping to keep my grocery bill low from here on in as our budget just took a big drop.

    1. I know your prices up north of us are so much higher. I feel very fortunate that we are able to find lower prices easily enough. We do have eggs for up to $4 a dozen and peppers almost as high depending on where you shop. Good luck to you in finding bargains to help with your budget woes.

  3. I just started using your tip of mixing milk with water to save money. Although I use milk in recipes, my husband is the only one who drinks it outright. So far he has no complaints! If he continues to like it, we'll be cutting our milk expenses in half! Wow! Thanks for the tip!

  4. Wow- you got some really great buys! I never see any kind of promo or sale on milk in our area- that is awesome that you can get it on sale. :)

    1. I love that they do those promos. It works out even better since we cut it 50/50 with water so pretty cheap, less than a dollar for a gallon of milk. The girls still get to drink their great big glasses of milk and I don't stress anymore about how fast they go through it.
