Kitties & Christmas Trees

Those of you with cats will totally relate to this post I'm sure.  Except for a brief period of time I have always had a kitty in my life.  Right now we have three of the little monsters and we adore them.  This time of year they test our adoration with all the antics and curiosity of a precocious child, I swear.

So many sparkly, shiny, twinkling things dangling from the branches.  How is a kitty supposed to resist such a temptation?

My Old Man Henry
When we had George he was our most excited kitty when it came to Christmas.  Or rather the snoopiest.  He loved to open presents and steal the bows.  It is so hard to wait, after all.

I remember coming downstairs one morning and the girls had the tape out and told me to close my eyes because George had opened up one of my gifts.  It was not uncommon to find the bows strewn about after a night of mischief.  Hmmm.  Wonder who did that?

Stella's favorite spot.
Now we have Stella.  She is a serious tree climber and has made herself a nest in the tree skirt underneath where she can frequently be found napping.  The other night our old man Henry decided it was his turn to take a nap in that spot under the tree.  When Stella discovered her sacred spot had been taken the fight was on.  The tree was swaying!  Okay you two that's enough!

Our big yellow tabby Leonard just sits and observes all the goings on and opts out preferring a warm lap with a view.  He is much too mature and sophisticated for such nonsense.  Thank goodness because I don't think our tree could survive him if he chose to try and climb it.  He's a big boy.

Do you have cats?  Do they tend to lose their minds at the holidays?

  1. We finally gave up on a tree because our cat refused to leave the ornaments alone. He worked diligently to knock, tear or anything else he could do to get them off the tree and bat them around the house. :=D

    1. They can be such little pests! But we love them anyway.

  2. We have 7 cats. They lose their minds at any time of the year. LOL. we have a small tree on top of a small table. They can't jump on the table and the tree is too high up for them to play with the ornaments. But they wrestle and rumble and tussle and run all over the place like they are crazy. Then they just basicall fall over and go to sleep on the nearest (preferably cushioned) surface.

    1. When ours get to playing and rough housing it is hysterical. It doesn't last long and they are back to snoozing. :)

  3. I grew up with cats, but have not had one since I got married. We have two Boxers who leave the tree alone thankfully.

Love how your cat made a bed for itself under the tree. Too cute.

    1. She is such a nut. And she is very territorial about that spot.
