KIS - Drink More Water

I used to be a soda drinker.  Diet Coke to be specific.  I loved the stuff but about five years ago I realized it probably wasn’t good for me.  Not to mention that soda is kind of expensive.  It also has no nutritional value, whatsoever.

One of the simplest things we can do for ourselves and our bodies is to drink more water.  Eight glasses a day to be exact.  My daughter's bought me a Brita pitcher for my birthday last year and I love it!  We tend to have a lot of chlorine in our tap water and this pitcher takes that out making it much more palatable.

Now that I've replaced the soda with water I've gotten to the point that I don't really care for it much anymore.  I'll treat myself to one every once in awhile because it sounds good but after a few sips I'm pretty much over it.

My new water habit has carried over to my girls and as a result I see them drink more.  They don’t care for soda much anymore either.  Whenever we go out to eat we order water.  We use the Brita and refill water bottles to take with us on picnics or to have when we are running errands.  My girls take their water bottles to school with them and I take mine to work.

Drink more water and get on a healthier path.  If you already do then keep up the good work!

  1. Last year I joined Weight Watchers and lost over 40 pounds. One of the requirements to be successful is to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. At first I didn't think I could drink that much water but as time went by I found my body craved the it.
My favorite is ice water with a slice of lemon or lime. I slice up the fruits, lay them on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Then I transfer the frozen fruit to a zipper bag and keep the bag in the freezer until I want to put a slice in my water. The fruit is perfect (no waste), I have a thirst quenching drink and I'm staying true to the "program". Win, win, win !!!

    1. Wow Vanessa! Good job! My turn around was when I lost a bunch of weight five years ago. 44 pounds, so you and I both know what a difference it makes to be at a healthy weight. We have a lot in common girl. I love your idea of freezing the fruit and I am going to try it. I love lemon in my water as well and cucumber too. Not sure cucumber would freeze but the lemons definitely. Thanks for the tip. Weight Watchers has some great recipes. So happy for your success. :)

  2. I'm addicted to soda. Any kind of diet soda specifically. I'm consciously trying to cut back, but having a hard time. Ice water is about the only kind of water I can tolerate, but I've been making myself drink one large (16-20 oz, not sure exactly) glass a day. Now that I'm a stay at home mom, my water consumption has decreased since when I was working I would refill my water bottle constantly. It's a work in progress.

I do buy generics when I can't find a good sale on name brand. Saves around $2 per 12 pack, which helps with as much as I drink.

    1. Soda is a tough one to kick. I love the fizz. As time has gone on I've done much better with the water drinking. Funny, I drink more at home than I do at work. Ice is a must!
