I spent all day Sunday sewing and watching NASCAR races on
YouTube. It was a perfect
day! I made two Christmas or birthday
gifts, I haven't decided which yet, and then I stitched together eight hanging
dish towels for my Etsy shop. I was in
serious production mode. Other than the terry
cloth towels I had everything else I needed in my massive sewing stash. I used up quite a few things too.
I sold one of the hanging dish towels I made to a co-worker.
I sold the other two items I had listed and then relisted on
eBay. I mailed them out using the free
mailers supplied by the post office. Two
bins of eyeglass frames are now emptied out and I am using one of those bins to
hold all of my chick feeders.
I listed six new items to sell on eBay. More eyeglass frames. I also renewed the listing I had on
Craigslist to sell a couple of old windows.
I used a gift bag, tissue and a bow I already had in my gift wrap
stash to put together a gift I made (hanging dish towel, potholders, dish soap
and hand soap) for a friend. I even had
the perfect card in my box of miscellaneous cards.
I made four batches of maple flavored pancake syrup and bottled it
in saved Snapple bottles.
I washed out a two gallon and a one gallon Ziploc bag to reuse.
A friend of mine gave me a grocery bag filled with jelly
jars. Yaaaay!
We added water to a hand soap dispenser, a bottle of shampoo and a
bottle of dish soap so we could use up every last bit. I recycled the dish soap and shampoo bottle
and refilled the hand soap dispenser to put in our camp box. It was definitely a use it up week.
The set of drawers I've been keeping my eye on for the sewing area
went on sale this week for 50% OFF! I
was so excited and headed over to ShopKo after work to pick them up. When I got there I found they had all of
their garden plants on clearance for 90% OFF.
I picked up three azalea bushes for 1.69 each! Can you believe that? They were regularly priced at $16.99. I used my credit card to purchase the bushes
and the drawers and will pay it off next month.
It is not a bargain if I don't. I
plan to plant them in the flowerbed in the back yard. I didn't think I'd get to plant anything in that
bed until next year.
I got home from work on Tuesday and discovered one of the chickens
had blessed us with an egg. (My serious
discussion must have made an impact. Ha,
ha!) It is so cute and I am
thrilled. We are pretty sure it was
Edith that did the laying as she seemed awfully proud of herself.
From our garden we harvested cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes.
I did not do any grocery shopping this week which allowed us to
clear out the refrigerator and use stuff up before it spoiled.
Friday night I made homemade pizzas so I could use up leftover
spaghetti sauce. I also used pesto,
cheese and pepperoni. Pizza night for
mere pennies.
I gave our kitchen scraps to the chickens. I composted coffee grounds, tea bags, egg
shells, tough broccoli stalks, onion skins and a hard lettuce core.
I printed an online coupon for JoAnn Fabrics for 20% OFF my total
purchase. I bought a roll of quilt
batting on sale for 50%OFF and a two pound bag of polyfil stuffing for $5.99
and used the coupon at checkout. I plan
to use these items for Christmas gifts and other projects I have planned.
How thrifty were you last week?
HURRAY AN EGG !!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you were one thrifty lady. I love that you were able to buy some perennials at a bargain price. I'm going to hit the garden stores this week to try to add to my gardens.
I was able to make five small containers (margarine tub size) of pesto this week. We used one on our pasta. Gave away two and put two in the freezer for later. Last night was clean out the frig, eat left overs dinner. We ate on the living room floor picnic style. Little One loved it and thinks we should do this all the time.
Love your kitchen hand towels. I'm sure they will sell quickly.
Thanks again for sharing your thriftyness.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to see that egg! I did a happy dance and everything. I was really pleased with last week and I felt like I got a ton of stuff done. I've never made my own pesto and we love it. Good for you! I need to be able to grow basil. I'll have to work on that. :)
DeleteYay Edith!
ReplyDeleteI made sub rolls, paired some coupons with sales and found great deals, borrowed library books digitally and downloaded a free Xbox game.
Sounds like you did great! Love the library. It is truly a bargain.
DeleteI also hit that sale at shopko. I planted tons of stuff in my yard and shared some with a friend. Is it still thrifty if I would have bought 400 dollars worth of plants...only spent 30
