Quick and
simple desserts can be a lifesaver when you are busy. Especially delicious ones like this. All you really need is a your favorite
chocolate cake mix, a can of cherry pie filling and a thawed tub of whipped
topping.
Bake your
cake according to the directions on the box.
After it has cooled cut into serving size squares. Place a piece of cake on a dish, top with a
spoonful of pie filling and a dollop of whipped topping. Doesn’t get much simpler than that!

I made this
for our dessert on Memorial Day and it was a crowd pleaser. I also think it would be good in other
variations such as:
Spice cake
& apple pie filling
Yellow cake
& peach pie filling
Lemon cake
& blueberry pie filling
Strawberry
cake & strawberry pie filling
Yellow cake
& blackberry pie filling
Swapping out
the pie filling for fresh fruit would be nice as well.

tip: We usually don't need a big dessert
for just the three of us. I will often
mix up a cake and fill up my 12 cup muffin pan lined with cupcake papers and
then dump the rest of the batter into my 8" square pan. The cupcakes can be frozen for later and I
use the cake for our dessert. Having a
dozen cupcakes in the freezer makes it really handy for a quick dessert later
on. Just thaw and add your favorite
topping.
I am going to try this black forest cake soon. It looks really good.
ReplyDeleteTrue about the desert amount. I have gotten to the point of using 1/2 of a cake mix and clamping the remainder to use another day.
I hope you enjoy it. :)
