Stuff Is Going On Around Here

Pardon my absence lately.  We've had some stuff going on around here that has required my undivided attention.  As part of her orthodontic treatment my youngest had a couple teeth removed on Tuesday.  That first day was a bit rough, but she has been doing great ever since.  A real Super Trooper!

My oldest has been gone the first half of the week on a college visitation trip.  She was able to tour four different universities in two states.  It was a wonderful opportunity for her.  Then right back home for regional robotics competition which began yesterday and rolls through Saturday.  Busy, busy, busy.

As if that weren't enough to keep me occupied I've got a few other things going on as well, one of which rates up there on the HUGE project scale.  Yeah, totally unexpected and it has my head swimming a bit, but what the heck?  Still in the early stages but if it comes to fruition you will know about it.  Wish me luck.

Hopefully by Monday it will be business as usual, but it also may not, so hang in there with me.  Sometimes life gets a little crazy.  Fortunately, it's a good kind of crazy.  I think.....  I hope.

  1. I'm sorry your little one had a rough time of it this week with her teeth. SO glad that she is doing much better. I have a dental appointment next week myself and I am absolutely dreading it. I hope I can be as much of a trooper as your brave gal is! ;)
The university tour that your oldest daughter took part in sounds wonderful! What a nice opportunity that is for her to explore her options. My son is taking part in a robotics class coming up and he is so excited. I am excited for him! :)
Good luck to you on your upcoming project! :)

  3. Wishing you every bit of luck for whatever is upcoming!
I know your daughter will continue to improve. All of my sons had jawlines too small for the number of teeth so they had to have extractions and braces. Not fun but it had to happen.

  4. And then after braces, it's retainers. My daughter has to wear her retainers for 5 years (her braces she had to wear for 3)! Thankfully, it's only at night when she's asleep. But they have to remember to put them in every time before bed ...

She starts college this Fall. We only toured one college out of the five she actually applied to, all in-state. She got accepted to her second choice, and wait-listed on her fourth choice. The only financial assistance they're granting her is barely anything ($1000.). They offered loans, but it was very scary to see them at $30,000. in total! I am so averse to taking on debt since digging out years ago, that it is shocking to see just how much "trouble" students/families can get into. And that is just for the first year of college. Multiply that number by 4, and yikes - it's heart palpitations time! Fortunately, we have been saving our money and hopefully will not have to take on too many loans for her undergraduate degree. And yes, we are still SLOWLY funding our IRA as well. Wish us luck!
