Yeah. I am not even kidding you! Only three months away.
Well, I finally got
my rear in gear and started working on some projects. I even completed a couple and I wrapped some gifts too! There are actually Christmas gifts in my
bedroom closet right now. Yaaay!
We have a gob of
birthdays around the holidays as well so it is a gift giving frenzy around our
place and if I don't get a head start on these I'm completely overwhelmed and
stressed out, which is never good. The
goal for me is to enjoy the
holidays. And all those birthdays we are
celebrating too!
In the next month I
plan to complete three homemade gifts, put the final touches on my gift
list, work on our annual letter some more and make some Christmas cards
complete with address and return address labels.
My final goal is to
have all of the gifts completed and wrapped by the end of the four day
Thanksgiving weekend. And I'm feeling
pretty good about hitting my target too.
Then I can work on other projects like the cards I want to send out and
baking yummy stuff. Ahhh, cookies!
Love these! |
How are you doing
with your preparations? Any big projects
completed. I know some of you have
shared some of what you are working on or have completed which is so
awesome. I love to hear what everyone is
doing or not doing, ha, ha.
Even you scrooges!
(wink, wink)
I think I have decided to make both of my daughters a throw size rag quilt for Christmas. They both expressed an interest in the one I have already made for my dad. This is a big undertaking though because I don't have long to finish them up. The good news is that rag quilts really don't take that long, I recently made a baby size one in 6 days from start to finish and that was with me working full time. My dad's felt like it took forever but I was dealing with a loss of "sewjo" at the time. I think I have it back now though (stress induced). I don't think they will be a total surprise but I will just have to send them to their room while I work. I think it may work?
ReplyDeleteOne daughter also has a birthday in November close to your girls days. I need to find out what she wants. I have a strict budget this year. My youngest wanted books for her June birthday and I was able to get all 5 in hardback/used on Amazon for just under $21. She was thrilled.
I hope you are able to share your projects with us at some time. I love seeing them. I already have plans to crank out some tissue holders.

I think that is a great idea Candace. They will love them. My girls love their blankets to wrap up in when it is chilly. I'm glad to hear you are going to make some tissue holders. I'll try to share what I can but most of my friends and family read my blog so I have to be careful not to ruin any surprises.
DeleteYep, 13 weeks until the big day! I use Halloween as my very contrived date to have the hand crafted gifts done, have a nice dent in my shopping, a completed idea list, Christmas cards ready to be addressed, and a tentative list of whatever "goodies" I plan on baking. (A lot of the cookies I make have doughs that freeze well and will keep 6 or more weeks in the freezer)
ReplyDeleteYou are well planned and ready for the season it sounds like Anne. Good job. I can hardly wait to see what you give your sister this year. I love what you two do for each other.
DeleteOh my... 3 months to go... I put out fall decorations the other day, and it made me realize just how close Christmas is. I have done NOTHING. Eeeeh.. I bought a few things on clearance after Christmas last year [stocking stuffers].. So proud to have that done.. But, I have lots of things I want to make.. So I MUST get going.. thanks for the reminder.. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteIt is coming up quick, isn't it? Hope you are able to get some things going soon. Take care Judy!
DeleteThis isn't Christmas related but gift related:
ReplyDeleteDo you have a "go to" gift for bridal showers? I have had two invitations recently plus one for a baby shower. I took care of the baby one by making a baby quilt. I don't have a go to gift for bridal. I don't have the means for an extravagant gift. I am crafty though. Just wondering if you had a few suggestions.
My go-to bridal gifts are candles. If you know their decor I try to find a holder that is complimentary and then I usually go with vanilla if I choose a scented one. If I'm not sure a gift card is my next best option. Pier one or Cost Plus World Market is a great place to find things and they have clearance racks.
