Dollar Tree Craft Supply Haul

On Saturday when we did our big grocery shopping marathon I took the time when we were at Dollar Tree to check out all of their craft supplies.  I found some of the cutest things to embellish my journals with as well as to make gifts, cards and other paper crafting projects I have planned this year.  I thought it might be kind of fun to share with you what I found.

Butterfly embellishments and loads of stickers

Needless to say I found a lot of fun stuff!  Normally I do not buy this kind of stuff, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons and have a little more fun on a regular basis.

How cool are these?!

My youngest found this for Laverne.  Perfect!

In the past I haven't done a whole lot of scrapbooking or paper crafting.  I've made greeting cards and a few things here and there, but my designs have always been fairly simple.

Love these cute little flowers

This year I hope to take it up a few notches, learn some new techniques and really get crafty.

I thought these kraft paper labels would be great for jars

One of my goals this year is to make all of my greeting cards.  I also have my journals to embellish as well as several other projects on the docket.

Do any of you buy your craft supplies at the dollar store?  What are your favorites?

  1. I have bought lots of crafty things from dollar tree over the years. About ten years ago I got too carried away in there, I am still using those papers and things. The last few years I have really tried to keep it under control. I have some of that twine you show in the last picture. I used the red/white on some Christmas gift tags I made.

My theme this year is stash busting - both fabric and crafty supplies. My fabric stash is large and I have been reorganizing it. My former boss has given me a lot of fabric over the last few years. So I need to use it up - I am looking for all kinds of ways to use up what I have. I am looking forward to the projects you share. :)

    1. You and I are so like minded. I'm trying to use stuff up as well. I have so much paper and fabric.

  2. I rarely go into the dollar store, but it's obvious that I need to check it out. You found some really cute things! Homemade cards are the best!

  3. I really like the kraft paper labels, they look vintage. I've tried scrapbooking in the past but found I just don't have the patience. It's hard enough getting my photos into a photo album, much less decorate them - they've been sitting in a storage container in complete disarray for years!

Even though I fail at scrapbooking, I have always loved paper crafts, paper, and stationery! I can't wait to see what you make with your haul!

    1. You and me both! I didn't do too well with that either and all I have to show for it is a bunch of supplies I paid too much money for and photos sitting and waiting for me. (sigh) However, it is on the list this year to do something about that.

Papercrafting is more my style because it goes quick and that fits into my schedule. :)

  5. A Dollar Tree just opened up in our area! When I had a poke around, I purchased a pack of 4 votive holders which I used for handmade beeswax candles. (Son raises bees, and loves to make candles.) They are very nice, and I intend to go back for more. I am a passionate rubber stamper--I make all my own cards. I haven't looked at the papercrafting supplies at Dollar Tree, though, because when I started stamping, about 15 years ago, I bought loads of supplies--papers and embellishments, which I am still using. I have a put a moratorium on purchasing crafting supplies other than card bases and envelopes until I use up my stash.

    1. That is me and paper. I've got to use up some of my stash before I can buy anymore. At one time I got a bit carried away.

  6. I never buy craft supplies unless they are on sale. I do have a stash. But, you have enough to do anything! Right now, I am buying Christmas craft stuff for next Christmas. I have a few craft items I want to make.

  8. You should try Tuesday Morning, as well -- their prices are sometimes slightly higher ($1.99 vs 99 cents), but they have great-priced yarn and other craft items, too. Their clearance areas often have paper and stickers, as well as the other stuff.

  9. I don't do much crafting myself, but I do buy craft supplies for my grandboys there. They love getting construction paper, fuzzy pom poms, googly eyes and things to create with. :)

    1. I used to do the same thing for my girls and dollar stores were my go-to for supplies. Now that they are older they are challenging me to come up with new ideas all the time. I love it. :)
