I Feel Good!

I knew that I would!

It has been almost two full months since I went strictly keto and I cannot believe how much better I feel.  The transformation began almost immediately.  As I've already shared with you, the first thing I noticed was the ringing in my ears eased up dramatically.  I still have it somewhat, but for the most part it leaves me alone.  When it does return, the volume is low enough that I hardly notice it.  HUGE relief, believe me.  For anyone that deals with tinnitus you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The next thing that happened, despite the fact that I drink a gallon of water every day, was I lost 5 pounds of retained water.  Also the pain in my lower back went away right along with it.  It no longer hurts to bend over or twist from side to side, although I still find myself expecting it to whenever I do.  My clothes fit!  Instead of trying to strangle me or cut me in two.  I am much more comfortable.

Amazingly, my anxiety seems to have leveled off quite a bit.  I feel calmer and more relaxed these days.  Of course, I'm no longer stressing and obsessing about my health all the time like I was, which is a big relief.  The heart palpitations and jitteriness have eased up and I sleep a lot better at night.  I can't say it has gone away, but it feels more manageable.

I have a ton more energy now and find getting things done around here is much, much easier.  I'm trying to pace myself so I don't end up overdoing it, but sometimes it is really hard.  I just want to go, go, go!

And the big thing that started it all off - migraines.  I haven't had one since I stared keto.  For me not to have a migraine in this amount of time is a record of epic proportions.  Truly amazing!  And I've not taken any kind of pain medication the whole time either.  Not even an aspirin.

I am truly amazed at this.  I can't even begin to tell you.  Things are getting better and I feel more and more like a human.  I getting my life back.

  1. I'm so happy for you. I'm in at two weeks and I notice my energy level has really picked up, too. I think it was Charlize Theron who was on tv this week, who had recently gained 50 pounds for a role in a movie. She said the first two weeks were fun, eating all the time. But by the 3-4 week, she felt terrible, had anxiety, no energy, etc. There's a lot of truth to "you are what you eat!!"

    1. It is really amazing the response once you cut out all the stuff that really doesn't fuel your body. Eliminating as much of the chemicals as I can in the process just makes it all the better.

  3. Okay, you may have convinced me to try Keto too. I can't imagine what it would be like to be rid of my Tinnitus and Migraines, I've had them both for several decades. If it would help with my anxiety and occasional insomnia that would be wonderful.

  4. Longtime lurker here - but wow, just wow. That is amazing. I must look into the keto diet as anything that gives you more energy can't be bad. Love your blog by the way. Anna (in France)

  6. I used to get migraines once or twice a month until menopause. Such a relief! One son gets migraines but i’m sure he would never go for this way of eating. So happy for you, though! That alone would convince me!

  7. I’ve never commented on your blog before, but I wanted to chime in on how much better I’ve felt on the Keto diet. I’ve been on it for 6 weeks, and it’s been really easy for me to stick to. I’ve lost 7 lbs (I’m not really overweight), but it’s really reduced my menopot belly. My mood has evened out, no highs and lows. My joints and back feel better. I initially started it because my consumption of sugary foods was really starting to catch up with my age (61), and I wanted to make a break. If anyone reading this is on the fence about trying, just do it.

    1. I am so glad to hear how well you are doing. I've been surprised too at how easy it is to stick to. I thought I'd be tempted by sweets or things I'm not supposed to eat, but that is not the case. I honestly don't want to eat that stuff. I've lost some weight too and I'm totally fine with that! I was told that we lose what we don't need and then it stops. I'm glad you decided to comment. Thank you Carolyn!
