It Sucks!

I have a Dyson.  I must have bought a lemon, because I know a lot of people love their Dyson vacuum cleaners.  I don't love mine.

After putting in new carpet in our living room I want to make sure it is kept clean and tidy.  We've adopted a NO SHOES on in the house policy and I vacuum regularly as I always have, even with the old carpet.  We have kitties and three women in the house with long hair.  You have to vacuum often.

Versatile and fits into small spaces

A few weeks ago the youngest and I were at Walmart and I came across a Bissell stick vac.  It was only $19.99 and I thought this would be an excellent replacement for our broom.  I was hoping it would make it quick and easy to clean up our tile floors and because it is small I can get into all the nooks and crannies, even around the toilet, with ease.  Turns out it does exactly all that and it does a great job.

Even better it work beautifully on the carpet as well.  I can do a quick vacuum and navigate around all of our furniture, under the bookshelf and TV stand, my desk, the recliner.  It is really handy.  And much to my surprise it has a lot of suction power.  This vacuum really sucks!  Which, when it comes to vacuums, is exactly what you need.

This filter works great and it is washable

It also pulls apart and can be used as a hand vac which makes it really nice to vacuum upholstery, stairs and along the baseboards and under toe kicks.  The other nice thing is that it is extremely easy to empty.  It has a small two washable filters too.  I've actually used my Dyson to vacuum the filters clean and then I'm back in business without having to wait for them to dry.

In a nutshell I really like this vacuum cleaner.  It does a great job, is easy to use and takes up very little space to store.  With that in mine I bought a second one the other day.  I figured it would be perfect for Laverne!

  1. Smart move! I've been thinking of getting something lighter weight for everyday vacuuming, as I hate dragging out the vacuum cleaner for small jobs. I will def. check this one out.

  2. Thank you for sharing this. I too hated our Dyson (which only lasted about 3 years, before the motor started sounding funny) and have been looking for a new vacuum. I'll definitely give this one a try.

  3. I have two people I know who have (or had) Dysons. One loves hers, the other hated it. I had an Oreck, which except for not having on board attachments, I loved, until it broke, 2 years after purchase, waaay too soon for what I paid for it. I then had a series of cheap, Bissel Power Glides, purchased at WalMart, which also broke after about 2 years...by broke, I mean the mechanism that held them upright snapped, but other than that they were great machines. The last one, though, had a ridiculously short attachment hose, so when it snapped, I broke down and bought the Hoover Wind Tunnel. So far, so good. Like you, I have pets, (dogs and cats) kids, asthma and eczema aggravated by dust, so I vacuum daily, sometimes more, so the machine I use is important to me. I insist on having a bagged machine, though, and those are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

    1. I had a Hoover prior. Had it for years. Thought I'd upgrade after it died, but that isn't how it worked out exactly. Yes, the bags are nice, but harder to come by for sure.

  4. I recently bought this exact vacuum and love it! I was skeptical since its so small and lightweight but it works great. I love how easy it is to use and clean. :)

    1. I figured if it didn't work I'd just return it but it really does a nice job. I'm so happy with it. It has replaced my broom.

  5. Ooh, nice! I need something like that. We're four people, two of whom have long hair, and two cats. We have hardwood floors through most of the house, but three area rugs, and sometimes sweeping just doesn't cut it. I'll keep this in mind!

    2. FYI, we have wood floors too, for the most part. I find the easiest way to get them quickly cleaned, is to put a pair of those fuzzy acrylic socks over a Swiffer mop--one on either end. Socks get pulled off, tossed in the washing machine. This gets much more stuff up than sweeping with a bristle broom, (I've tested by doing it after sweeping) or even with the Swiffer brand disposable cloths! I buy the socks for $0.50/pair at Rite Aid Black Friday.

  6. That's a great idea for Laverne, I was thinking that Bertha needs a vacuum too so this is nice to know!

  7. Sold! :-) We've been casually looking for a little vacuum that does just what you say this one does. Especially since we just adopted a kitten. lol! It's never easy to trust the manufacturer's sales pitch...so having a review from someone that actually uses one is great! Thank you!
