Today my oldest daughter is graduating from high school. It seems like only yesterday I hopped on a
plane and flew to the other side of the world to pick up my little bundle of
joy, yet here we are. She is all grown
up and ready to take flight.
I am so very proud of my little girl. She has grown up to be such a fine young
lady. Beautiful inside and out. Raising her has brought me tremendous joy and
fulfillment. I cannot imagine my life
without her in it. It will be exciting
to see what all she does next.
This year has meant a lot of changes for all of us. I've parented her much less and encouraged
her to make her own decisions, choices and plans. While I've had a few opinions here and there,
for the most part, I've allowed her to be her own person and do her own thing.
Though my role now will be much diminished moving forward I will
be here for her nonetheless. I will
always be someone she can talk to, share a confidence, express an opinion or
idea, cry at or simply ask for help. As
her mom I will always be her mom. And as
I always tell her, "No one loves you like your mom does."
Boy, isn't that the truth?
You have done a wonderful job Mom! She is beautiful and I wish her the very best on her college and career. Life isn't easy but you have done well to prepare her.
ReplyDeleteOh my it seems like yesterday I jumped on that plane too, and now my girls are so big - they are the same age as your youngest. Time is flying by, sniff sniff.
It goes way too fast Candace. Thank you for the well wishes, I'll pass them along. And thank you for being my blog friend. :)
DeleteTruth!! There's no love like a mother's love. Congratulations to your beautiful daughter.... I'm sure she is smarter than most at this stage… she has a very smart mom!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! (blush) Thank you.
DeleteOh Dana,
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting. Your lovely daughter has grown from a delightful, clever and cute little girl into a beautiful and accomplished young lady: Her eyes shine with kindness, intelligence, ambition and goodness. I am as sure of this as I am of anything: She will achieve great things.
I'm so proud to know you, too. You have been a wonderful mother and have given both girls love and the tools they need for life.
Congratulations to you both.
I've actually told my partner that if I ever came into money, I would give both your girls full ride scholarships to whichever University they choose; I'm *that* awed by you and them.
Anyway, have a wonderful day. My Mum is coming to my house today and we'll have our glass of wine in your honour.
Much love,
Heloise
XOXO
You have a very kind and generous heart. I appreciate you greatly. I hope you and Mum enjoyed the wine. I joined you from across the pond. Take care my friend!
DeleteCongratulations to you & your lovely daughter! What an exciting milestone for you both.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Hard to believe it is that time already.
Deletecongrats!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lee Ann :0)
DeleteCongratulations on the graduation to both your daughter and you. As she graduates from high school you graduate to your new "Mom" role. Both are exciting phases.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for her Anne. She is going to have a great life. Thank you for all you encouragement and support over the years.
DeleteWhat a beautiful picture of your daughter. She sounds like an amazing young woman. You have / and will continue to teach her how to be an adult. You have raised her right! I know she will do well at whatever she chooses in life and you'll be there to cheer her on. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Crystal. I know my job will never be done, just different. :o)
DeleteShe will make you proud -- just as you have made her proud. You've taught her how to think and act on her own, without spending a ton of money or having to lean on others.
ReplyDeleteI have two girlies too, now in their early 30s. It's wonderful to watch them figure things out and continue to grow. (I just wish they'd have some grandbabies, so I could watch them, too! But that will come...)
I don't anticipate grandbabies anytime soon either. These kids are so career minded and I applaud that. We just have to be patient. LOL. Thank you Cindy. :)
DeleteSo true! Your daughter is as lucky to have you as her mom as you are to have her as a daughter. I wish her all the best in as she moves into adulthood.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I am so blessed by these girls of mine.
DeleteShe is such a pretty girl. And, you have shared what a jewel she is as you teach her.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :0)
DeleteSeeing a child begin the journey out into the world is so satisfying! You have every right to be extremely proud of your daughter! Congratulations to her on her high school graduation!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue! I appreciate you.
DeleteOh no, I'm crying.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good mother, and she proves it. Both of you should be so proud of yourselves, and what wonderful strong, self-sufficient women (and young women) all three of you are.
Happy graduation and here's looking forward to the college years. It's going to be great! :)
D.
You are so sweet. Thank you. The time has gone so fast!
DeleteNow I am crying! I have watched your girls grow (although I am always behind when reading your posts) and it has inspired me so much. Thank you for taking the risk and sharing your family with me and the world.
