Hanging Out At The Beach

We took a break from our many projects for some family fun on Sunday.  We packed up a picnic cooler, grabbed our bag of inflatable pool toys we'd picked up at Wal-Mart the day before, tossed the sunscreen into my purse and hopped into the car for a quick 15 minute ride to the beach.

Our beach is a man made swimming and recreation area beside the dam.  Sandy Point is a nice place to take your family with plenty of sand, shade trees, grassy areas and picnic tables.  The Boise greenbelt goes right up to it for people far more ambitious than we are to walk, roller blade or bike out there.

We spread out a blanket and got busy exercising our lungs to get our air mattresses and donuts blown up.  After suncreening up we hit the water and had a blast.

All blown up & ready to play!

We couldn't have asked for nicer weather

We took a break for a little food, then back in we went.

Three bathing beauties

All preening & fluffing after a nice swim

A family of geese joined us and we were literally swimming with them.  I had no idea geese like to swim and frolic like that and they didn't seem the slightest bit bothered by our presence.  It made for great entertainment watching them dive under water and even log roll around.  They were having every bit as much fun as we were.

Another family came to join us

So much fun!

After a few hours we loaded our floatables into the car and headed back home.  We'll be back again soon I'm sure.  With this place so close to our house and our state parks pass on our car windshield we really have no good excuse not to.

We actually got these to fit in the car

We are so lucky to live near some wonderful recreational areas like these

It was so nice to take a break and bob along in the water for awhile to relax and enjoy some good family time.
