Time To Move On

I've never been all that fond of people that lie.  Especially big lies that can impact people's lives to such a monumental degree.  I shared with you about a pesky realtor that had been lurking about talking to me and two of my neighbors.  Well at one point a couple weeks ago my spidey senses started to really tingle that this guy was not on the up and up.  So I did some digging.

Turns out he was spinning some pretty tall tales.  He had planted enough seeds to rile us all up and lead us to surmise that a big developer was coming in to build on the vacant lot behind us and our homes were in the way.  The developer needed to buy us out and level our homes to build whatever it was he needed to build.  Or have appropriate access or something to that effect.

Last week I was able to find out quite a bit about this young man and his "developer".  There is no developer and without going into too much detail this particular person has a history of making things up as he goes along.  Sadly, he also believes the stories he tells.  Why he chose us, we have no clue, but suffice it to say he has some serious issues.

Were we ever in danger of being scammed?  No.  Was what he did criminal?  Not necessarily.  He actually did have a friend who was interested in purchasing some rental property.  But is there some mental illness at work here?  Definitely.  Will he get the help he needs?  I don't know.  He has been notified by his broker to stay away and not to contact us again.  From this point on I do not know what will happen with him and that is fine.

So while we spent the last six weeks in turmoil and he caused a tremendous amount of upheaval in our lives we've all chosen to just move on.  I could be upset and angry over all the stress the girls and I endured, the time I wasted looking for a new place to live, etc.  But I choose not to do that.  I'm just glad I was able to get to the bottom of this and put an end to it.  We are all greatly relieved.

Time to move on and let it all go.  My plan is to pick up where I left off and get back to work.  I've got projects to complete!  And that makes this mama very happy!

  6. Truth is surely stranger than fiction sometimes. I NEVER would have guessed... 'the REST of the story!' (as Paul Harvey would say).

I'm quite surprised the broker didn't just fire that fellow outright. Or make his continued employment contigent upon a psych workup. That fellow is a huge liability! And it's disturbing that he's free to go mess up other people's lives. Suppose he had gotten someone to sell based on his falsehoods? We are talking Lawsuit City...

But in the end, I am very glad the stress is over for you and your girls! Also glad to know more renovation cliffhangers and keto meals will be coming down the pike! :^) :^)

  7. Wendy Payne, here. I would strongly consider reporting/ filing a complaint with the State Board of Realtors. That was highly unethical of him. You are a kind and forgiving person. That said, he will continue this behavior until he is held accountable. It will also stand as a warning and dererant to the next unscrupulous person whi considers manipulating people in this manner.

    1. There is more to the story that I'm choosing not to share on the blog. Thank you though. :)

  9. So thankful that you took action and didn't just sit back and believe everything you were told. Peace of mind! I think your home is beautiful and shows a lot of loving attention to detail. It is also a place of love for your and your girls. Take care.

  10. As frustrating as these last few weeks have been, I'm glad you got to the bottom of the story. While his office may be telling him to stay away, I would also make a complaint to your real estate commission. They will consider his conduct and determine whether he should be suspended or barred. As for help, it would be nice but I suspect this is a pattern he's developed and isn't about to give up.

  11. Anyone can find out who is the owner of a home at any address. You, a single woman, is listed, so there is no husband to question or stop him. I have been told more lies by realtors!!!

    Good riddance.

  13. Just incredible...this is NOT how I thought this story would end! If I ran that particular office, he'd be out on the street by now. FIRED.
Glad you're doing ok about it -- but it's still weird.

  15. Oh! My heart stopped when I read the title. I thought you were being forced to sell and were moving! I like this ending to your story better than the bad one I was imagining.
Now. Excitement time is over. Get back to the projects so I can feel guilty (I mean inspired) to get up off the couch and get back to work.

PS: I'm inspired and just started painting the upstairs bedroom. It will be in short segments, about one hour a day.

    1. Much better ending! It was breaking my heart to think we might be forced out. Thankfully not! Keep reading! I've been busy.

You will be amazed with how much you accomplish in short spurts like that. Before you know it you'll be done. :0)
