It has long been my heart's desire to reach out and help
someone who is in need. This year I
would really like to make that happen. I
know how to do a lot of things and I'm sure there is a single mother out there
who works really hard that could probably use a little help. Whether it is help with a repair around the
house, a project she wants to do or simply some organization or meal planning
help. Maybe she wants to learn how to do
something or make something. I'd sure like
to help.
So if any of you know someone who lives in the Boise or
Treasure Valley area that deserves a helping hand or could use some assistance
let me know. Or, if any of my readers
are in that position themselves reach out to me by email and tell me what is
going on.
A lot of people have suggested I teach classes and one
thought I've had is to do a meetup with a group and we can tackle certain
topics or work together to fix something.
There are so many possibilities really.
Let me know what you think.
You are so kind.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteContact a local agency that helps people and offer through there. I know a church contacted me to help me with yard work after someone in the city gave them my name.
ReplyDeleteI'm already involved with a couple of agencies in town. Just thought I'd throw it out on the blog in case there was someone in need.
DeleteI wish I lived close to you because I think it would be great to just hang out and get to know you better. Us single moms need a good network of support.
ReplyDeleteSo true Candace. It would be really nice. :0)
DeleteVery good of you! I would suggest contacting your local food bank. I know our food bank offers courses on managing finances etc. so they may know where you could connect with groups. Another possibility, is Habitat for Humanity.
ReplyDeleteThis time I am hoping to work outside of an agency.
DeleteFabulous idea. I don't need help but I would be so happy to jump in and help you with a group when you get one up! I wonder if the WCA has resources to gather a group?
ReplyDeleteI will keep you in mind! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a good-hearted person you are.
My mom was a single mom raising 3 kids. She's gone now but I often think back and wonder how she handled everything.
And she never ever complained.
What a blessing someone like you would've been for her.
Someone saying to her "how can I help? Here, let me do that for you".
Bless you,
Debra
It is a lot of work as a single mom, for sure. I bet your mother was amazing!
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I'm sure this will be such a blessing for all involved.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for quite a few years now, I have thought of asking before but didn't have the courage, however you mentioned recently about helping others.
It may not be exactly what you had in mind but I would find it a tremendous help to have some menus.
I do see your recipes, I have checked out your keto blog, but it would be helpful to have say, 10 -14 days of menus to use as a resource.
My husband is diabetic and on a low to no carb. diet and sometimes I just don't know what to give him. He doesn't mind a salad as a side or meal once in awhile, but not every day, sometimes it can get a bit monotonous. The thrifty side of it is certainly helpful and I appreciate seeing your low expenditures when it comes to meals and find it helpful, but it can get difficult at times to know just what to give him.
Thank you! janet
I would love to help you come up with some meal plan ideas. Let me think on it over the weekend and see what I can come up with. So glad you reached out.
DeleteIf you want to get a group of women together to teach them something the Library might have a room you can use and they will even post it or let you put up a small poster. I think something for moms who are struggling or single moms would be wonderful. Like you said a project or information on things you should know - like how to turn off your water or if the toilet is over flowing water and you need to turn it off or and other things around the house. I know how to do these things and even fix a toilet's innards (lol) but some women don't even know about things like carbon monoxide detectors and how they should be down low and smoke alarms up high. Also how a breaker box gets tripped and what you can do about that. I had to learn many things the hard way with no money and no one to help when I was a single mom. Or basic car stuff like how to check your fluids and tire pressure. I know it sounds basic but so many don't know how to do these things. Lucky me. Dad taught me and my brothers car things and how to change a tire, lube a car (back in the day) and check all the fluids. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOur library does have rooms like you mention and they are a great place to have meetings like this. And you are right, a lot of people don't have the basics, so these are some great ideas.
DeleteJanet, I don't have actual experience with this cookbook, but it was highly recommended on Amazon and it has a 21 day meal plan. Plus it's FREE if you have a Kindle or Kindle reader on your tablet!
