Last
week I made my menu plan for the month of March. I had the girls help me this time with the
brainstorming portion of the project. I
love it when they give me ideas. Sometimes
I just get stuck and they were great inspiration.
This is
what we came up with:
- Swedish Meatballs with Rice
- Grilled Cheese & Tomato Basil Soup
- Pasta & Spicy Sausage
- Egg Scramble
- Thai Noodle Soup
- Hamburgers & French Fries
- Chicken Pot Pie
- Taco Soup & Cornbread
- Spanish Rice
- Cheese Omelets
- Tomato & Basil Pasta
- Nachos
- Pizza
- Corned Beef & Cabbage
- Split Pea Soup
- Reuben Sandwiches
- Mushroom Alfredo
- Black Bean Quesadillas
- Corn Dogs & Tater Tots
- Meatloaf & Baked Potatoes
- Clam Chowder
- Pesto Pasta
- Grilled Tuna Sandwiches
- Fish & Chips
- Pork Chops & Rice Pilaf
- Sloppy Joes
I can
hardly wait to get cooking and dig in.
How about you? What is on your
menu for this month?
Wow! Forget about my menu! I am moving in with you for the next month! lol- sounds delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteCome on over! We'll make it a party. :)
DeleteOh, wow, I wish I was this organized. We play it by ear, and by that I mean sandwiches for dinner 3 nights per week. I am such a lousy cook.
ReplyDeleteOn the upside, I am a great baker! Brownies or lemon cake, anyone?
Great blog, you are giving me inspiration.
best,
MOV
Glad you found us. I'll take the lemon cake any day. Heck the brownies too since you're offering!!
DeleteDo you make your own pesto?
ReplyDeleteI don't. I make so much from scratch and after finding a brand I love I decided to buy it. It goes on sale often too which makes it really nice. I usually buy a couple extra jars when it does.
DeleteIt all sounds so good. I am not nearly so organized. I throw together a menu each week and then try to actually stick to it. My husband is a shift worker so it is easy to slack off when he is not here for supper. I must do better :)
ReplyDeleteI well imagine that if it wasn't for my kids I would be a bit of a slacker as well.
DeleteThat's the problem....I have 2 kids as well....lol.
DeleteI hear you. ;)
DeleteI don't tend to plan specific meals but instead I stock up on inexpensive foods we eat a lot, eg fruit and veg in season from the green market, beans and lentils from the Asian market, tinned and frozen goods from certain bargain shops and whatever else we need from the neighbourhood supermarket. We rotate through a list of proteins: beans, poultry, fish (tinned), lentils, cheese, FISH (not tinned), beans, eggs, fish, lentils, nuts, FISH, beans, meat (pork or beef of whatever type), fish, etc. I try to serve a green veg and a red/yellow/orange veg. Tonight we'll have lentil burgers (http://agirlcalledjack.com/2013/04/06/carrot-cumin-kidney-bean-burger-9p/), savoy cabbage and roasted beetroot with chopped fruit (apple, banana and grapes) and evaporated milk for dessert. I did a frugal binge in January and February and tried to buy as little food as possible, using up the odd things in my pantry and freezer - then I started needing to look up recipes to figure out different ideas for the same things we had a lot of. We both quite enjoyed the challenge and came up with some new favourite recipes. I've not told Bill yet, but I'm thinking of doing that again this month, after stocking up on fresh foods again...we'll see how long I can make them last!
ReplyDeleteI find having a plan relieves a lot of stress in my busy life. Not having to worry about what to fix for dinner as I drive home from work every day is what motivated me to do this in the first place. I love the challenge you mentioned of purging the pantry and freezer. It definitely makes you get creative.
