Lately I've been reworking some of my favorite recipes in an
attempt to make them healthier and lower in fat and calories. I actually had some success with my
traditional Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe and I think I like them better this
way too.
Healthier Chocolate Chip
Cookies
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup miniature chocolate
chips
1/3 cup finely chopped
walnuts
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
Cream butter and shortening
together. Add sugars and blend
well. Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda and
salt. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Add flours and combine well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly
oiled baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 7
to 8 minutes. Remove to rack and allow
to cool.
I like that these cookies are lightly sweet and fluffier than my
old recipe. Plus much less greasy. Not to mention the healthier aspect
alleviates any guilt, ha, ha.
Try this one and let me know what you think.
Thanks for doing this, i'll use it
ReplyDeleteI have never made chocolate chip cookies that looked so fluffy! I have to try this out- they look delicious. Thanks for sharing your recipe! :)
ReplyDeleteOh these look so yummy !!!! I like a fluffy, substantial cookie that I can dunk into a cup of coffee or a glass of milk. The fact that are not as caloric is a plus too.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate all the recipes that you share with us. (Especially the cookies Your recipes are thrifty, easy to prepare and taste great.
