I haven't posted any
updates for awhile and I bet you thought I wasn't doing anything but I
have. There for awhile I wasn't doing as
much as I would've liked, but I've done some little things here and there.
I
fixed a couple tears and a hole in one of the screens. It isn't all that beautiful, but it did the
trick.
One thing I've been
steadily working on is getting my sewing stuff ready to go inside. I've decided that sewing and crafts is
important enough to warrant space inside my rig. I am going to use one of the storage areas
underneath one of the dinette seats to hold my stuff so I've got to figure out
a way to store it all in that one compartment.
You may recall last
year I bought a vintage sewing box off of eBay.
I wanted one as part of my retirement house plans and I still do. Only instead of going into a house it will be
going into Laverne. I've been going
through my sewing supplies, sorting and organizing items into this box.
I went through a gob
of thread spools my mother had given me several years ago and I have a
wonderful variety of colors in there now.
I also went through zippers, elastics, and trims. I'm still working on the trims.
Buttons are another
thing I need to go through and make a decision on. I've got a ton of buttons.
I haven't touched
the fabric yet. That will be a bit of a
chore. And I still need to decide on a
bin for putting it in. It will need to
fit in the storage area too. Plus I want
to revamp the storage area first so it will be really nice and clean for
holding these items. That is part of a
bigger project coming up.
The upper bunk is getting a makeover! |
I started another
huge project as well, but I'm going to wait until it is completed and I'll
share more about that one very soon. It
is big enough that it deserves its own post anyway.

I also gave her a once over with some spray cleaner and the vacuum so she stays nice and spiffy inside.
My oldest and I popped into a thrift store one day and found a Brita pitcher, the exact one I almost paid $20 for at the store, in perfect condition for 99¢! I had an extra filter at home. After a little cleaning and disinfecting it was ready to go. I'm so happy we found this. And did I mention it was only 99¢?! 😊
So, not a lot here, but steady progress nonetheless. I just keep plugging away at it.

You know this is funny but I had that exact sewing box but in Gold. I remember my mom buying it to store my Barbie doll clothes & accessories when I was a child. It is still in that closet! I don't know if it is still in mint condition or not. Maybe I should look? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool Candace. My Mom had the Avocado Green one when I was in junior high.
DeleteI have the exact same sewing basket! I got mine, thru Freecycle when I grabbed a freecycled zigzag sewing machine, the man tossed in the basket still with notions and thread!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a great buy! I paid a little more than that for mine, ha, ha. I think it was worth it. Enjoy your freebies!
