Meet Josephine & Phoebe

Aren't they sweet?  I just love these little girls.  They are so darling.

We were planning to add two more to our flock this year and after much thought and discussion we agreed we should go ahead with our plan and get the peeps.

What ya got in there?

Peepers!

A couple weeks ago the youngest and I headed off to the feed store to see what they had.  And of course it didn't take much for these two little darlings to worm their way right into our hearts.

She is going to have beautiful coloring

Josephine is a Sagitta and she'll be quite large.  She is already twice the size of her sister.  Once mature she will lay large brown eggs.

Love those fuzzy cheeks

Phoebe is a Shade Gray Aueracana and already shows her fluffy cheeked plumage.  She'll have black and dark gray feathers.  Eventually she will lay blue eggs.

Everyday they get bigger and bigger.

And they love playing with Mom and the cat too

So cute!  And not at all spoiled

We still miss our other girls, but we are very happy to have these little babies join our family.

  3. Aw! Aren't they sweet?!? Congratulations on your new additions! How long will it take before it's safe to introduce them to the older gals?

    1. Thanks! Probably about 4 months give or take. It will all depend on how they get along.

  4. Beautiful little chickies! (Except I think you should get at least two more. You've got customers for eggs, and feeding 6 -- or even 8 -- chickens is no harder than 4.)
The cat really enjoys playing with them??

    1. The city limits us to 5. I'm thinking of adding a couple more in a year or two to stagger out the egg laying.

  6. I'm so impressed with your cat not wanting to eat those precious babies. Do you think she/he could teach my 3 some manners?

    1. He's never been one to bother other animals. I do have one kitty that would love to eat them, but he knows I'd murder him. However, I know what he is thinking....

    1. I'd say it is because he is 19 years old, but he's always been that way. Definitely no mouser!
