Sunday was a meal
prepping day, as I shared with you last week, and thoroughly enjoyable. I went through the refrigerator and emptied
out my crisper drawer onto the counter so I would know what I had and what I
had to work with. I tailored my entire
meal plan around what I already had on hand and by the time all was said and
done we had loads of healthy and nutritious meals, including lunches, ready to
carry us throughout the week.
Our schedule is not
quite as intense as what it has been but still busy nonetheless. On the way to pick up my youngest from
cheerleader practice I stopped in at Albertsons to pick up a few items on sale. I don't normally buy bottled water, but it
was on sale for $1.49 a case with 4 bonus bottles per case. It will last us a long time as we tend to
only use it occasionally and I thought it might be handy. Trying new things I guess. I also picked up some salsa on sale for $1.49
a jar, sour cream for 89¢ each and grapes for the girls at 99¢ a pound.
Freebies! |
I also redeemed four
freebie coupons for items we won playing their Monopoly game. Three gravy packets and a small can of tomato
sauce. Not too shabby. I got more game cards for shopping and ended
up with two more freebies to redeem next time.
This is not the dress, but it was a contender |
Friday it was
Mommy/Daughter date night. This time to
go prom dress shopping with my oldest. Usually not a thrifty prospect but we
managed to do it rather well, I think. We dropped off the youngest for a group date
at the movies and then we headed off to the mall where she tried on loads of
dresses. And then we found the one
(details to come). When we were done we went to a nearby diner to have
breakfast for dinner before we needed to pick up little sis and one of her
friends at the theater. I have to tell
you we had a great time.
Oh! I almost forgot. On the way to the diner we stopped in at
Goodwill and I found two pyrex dishes for 99¢!
A one cup to replace one the girls had broken, I'd kept the lid, and a
two cup. Since I bought a four pack of
replacement lids I have one for this dish.
What a bargain!
I love my little kitchen |
On Saturday I got a
crazy hair and went nuts in the kitchen.
You won't believe it. I finally
got the guts to do something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Check out tomorrow's post to see what all I
did. I'm so happy!!!!!!
Hmmmmm. Wonder what I did with this? |
Also, we fed the
hens our kitchen scraps as well as composted egg shells, coffee grounds and
onion skins. I also washed out a gallon
Ziploc bag to reuse and I made some foaming soap solution to refill the
downstairs bathroom dispenser.
Can't hardly wait to
share tomorrow's post with all of you.
Eeeeeeeee!!!!! So excited!
How was your thrifty
week?
I am intrigued and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
ReplyDeleteI'm just thrilled! Still reveling. :)
DeleteI always learn something new when I check your blog! Today I learned to empty everything from the crisper drawer to the counter when meal prepping and try to use it all up! Great tip, as there are often one or two things in the bottom of that drawer I've forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how long it took me to figure that out? Sheesh! LOL
DeleteOh my gosh your daughter ... She is beyond beautiful, and that figure! Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't even know what the rest of your post was about, heehee. She reminds me so much of my daughter who just turned 19 :)
D.
That's funny. Our girls grow up way too fast!!
DeleteWonderful details from your week! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! She's so excited. ;)
