Grocery Budget Update - November

Once again, I did it!  I stayed within my grocery budget.  It was a challenge but I did it.

My non food budget came in at $13.12 for cat litter and canned food, a bottle of dish soap, zipper style sandwich bags, a two pack of bar soap and a big bottle of liquid soap from the dollar store, and two jugs of laundry detergent I bought at Walgreens on sale and with coupons for $1 a piece.  I was super thrilled about that buy.

This is what I bought last month:

$124.06 ÷ 30 days ÷3 people = $1.38 per person per day!

This month I came in just under budget.  Hopefully next month will be the same.  I know it was nice to get that rebate so I could pick up a few extras at the end of the month.

How did you save money on groceries this month?  Were you able to find some good sales and stock up on anything?

  1. Our food budget stayed within our guidelines despite a significant stock up on some canned food items. I have been baking bread and making soups which also stretched the food! Hooray.

  2. Amazingly, I did manage to stay within budget this month. I found out about the 'egg plant' where I could buy eggs for a dollar a dozen, so with the novelty of that discovery I have been making eggs a lot lately for meals. I also discovered how many grocery items I could buy at Dollar Tree so that has saved money too. So far I have gotten everything we needed plus snuck in a few extra things here and there and managed to put together enough food to make a really hearty Thanksgiving feast and I still have a few bucks to get me through the last few days of the month. :)
You did great staying in your budget and I am jealous at some of the deals you got. Artichoke hearts- yummm! I do have a question- what are mung bean noodles? Nice deal on the laundry detergent! :)

    1. Mung bean noodles are in the Asian food aisle. They are so good in soup and super easy fix. You soak them in hot water for 10 minutes and then put them right into your hot soup. Delicious! Cheap too. I am super stoked about the laundry detergent. I am jealous of your egg factory. We don't have one of those. :(
