Christmas Plans 2015 - Already?

Oh heck yeah!

Planning for this year started pretty much the day after Christmas.  I started jotting down ideas and then got that crazy hair to dive into my bag of leftover yarn and powered out two gifts for my darling girls.  That just got me fueled up and excited.

A couple weeks ago I found a clearance sale on gift wrap and was able to restock with four rolls of paper for $2.48!  That made my day.  It's the little things. J

I am planning yet another handmade Christmas and I have more ideas of things to make than I have people to give them too, I'm afraid.  I guess that just means I need more friends.

My girls have already given me their input on things they want to do, eat, bake as well as gifts they want to make.  They've also suggested a few things they might like to receive.

As far at the budget goes, this last one was a tight one at a mere $100.  Nonetheless I was able to pull it off and no one was disappointed with gifts or the things we did to celebrate the holidays.  This year, however, I plan to double it and do a little more for my girls as well as replace our defunct lights that had to be tossed out and buy a new wreath.  At $200 I should be able to do quite a bit.

So yes, I'm a little bit excited about preparing for Christmas once again.  I have way too much in the process but isn't that what it's all about?

  1. You go, girl! I think it's great that you are already preparing for next Christmas. I have had fleeting thoughts, but I don't think I have accomplished anything on that end yet. One year my husband made a bunch of wooden toy trains for our son for Christmas. He was having so much fun making them he ended up making a bunch of extra ones, so on Christmas morning we all went to the local hospital and distributed the rest of the trains to kids in the children's ward. The smiles we received made us feel as if we were the ones given gifts! :) I was thinking for this year I may have the kids make some crafts and art projects throughout the year, set them aside, and distribute them in the nursing home on Christmas morning.

    1. Wow! I love that idea. Great thing to teach your kids. I was thinking something similar myself. With all of the crocheting I've been doing, if I can manage it, I'd like to make a few lap size afghans to take the the nursing home that our friend is in. Or sew a couple lap quilts. Have them given to someone who may not have a gift from family that day. You and I ... great minds!

    2. This is just a thought but maybe you could put a posting up on your local craigslist or something for a yarn donation to make the afghans. Several years ago I put an ad for yarn donation for the nursing home and there were 3 people who said they had yarn just laying around their house that was not going to be used and they were more than happy to donate it. I gave it to the activities director at the nursing home to distribute to the residents who like to crochet and knit. I had to laugh because when my daughter was born I took her in to the nursing home and one of the ladies had made a pair of booties for my daughter- I smiled when I realized it was made out of the yarn I had collected and donated! :)

    3. I hadn't thought about that. Hmmm. Not a bad idea. Thanks!

  2. Well now I have to rethink my advance Christmas planning. I was just thinking about getting a jump on things for next year for the family. By reading y'alls comments I am ashamed and humbled. Instead of just snagging wrapping paper and ribbons I need to/will think altruistically. Thank you both for commenting as the Christmas Carol Ghost of Christmas, Future

  3. Celebrating Christmas with your loved ones is really amazing and it really makes me feel great to share such wonderful moments with my loved ones. This time I am planning to hire SF event venues and celebrate Christmas there. What do you think about it?
