Yikes! I can't believe we are talking only three months left until
Christmas Day. Holy Cow! Time is flying!
I've got a good head start on my gift list. Most of what I'm giving this year, as with
most years, is homemade so I pretty much have to get started early or I won't
get finished in time. I love to make
gifts for my friends and family and I try to make things I know they will truly
enjoy and use. Even with items I
purchase as gifts I try to make it something useful.
My goal every year is to get all of my gifts done and wrapped by
the end of Thanksgiving weekend. Then I
can focus on decorating, baking, parties, visiting and other holiday
celebrations. I don't enjoy shopping so
I really don't enjoy shopping when the stores are packed and chaotic at
Christmas. I do my best to stay out of
the stores during December and I don't do the whole Black Friday thing either.

On Christmas Eve, after supper, we climb in the car and tour the
neighborhood to look at lights. When we
get home we hurry and check the internet to see where Santa is. Once he hits the east coast we hustle off to
bed so we are sure to be asleep before he gets to our house.
Time to get busy! J
Somebody looks like they're up to mischief :-)
ReplyDelete3 months? Geez. I hate Christmas shopping. I do have one thing bought though so I guess that is better than nothing. It wasn't intended to be a present at first, a puzzle I really wanted for my son that I found a few dollars cheaper at an outlet store, but since he is too young for it right now I decided just to save it for Christmas.
She thinks that under the tree is her domain. I have another one that thinks it is his job to pull all the bows off the presents. Knuckleheads! :)
DeleteYikes is right. I have a few things ready for Christmas but not near enough for it being 3 months away. I love your tree decorating event. I am the one that usually puts up the tree and takes it down. My guys are into decorating. They do like it when I make gumdrop peppernuts though. Have a great weekend.

It is coming way too fast I think. Horse doover night is the best part. :)
DeleteI must be an anomaly because I really do love Christmas shopping. Not so much the crowds, but I love that most people are out and basically cheery. (Notice I qualified most) I have already bought several gifts and will wrap them soon. I too like to get things done prior to the season so I can enjoy the holiday along with everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI don't like putting up the trees, it is a chore and I always get stuck doing it by myself, but I love it when they are finished. The rest of the house is what I enjoy doing and by the time it is finished all the common areas of the house look like different rooms. (Not big on doing the bedrooms and baths, with the exception of christmas themed hand towels in the powder room)
Guess it is time to get my game plan going.
I think I lack the patience for shopping. I'm like a guy that way, I guess. I just want to get in, get it and get out. I do the hand towels in the bathrooms and a candle. If it wasn't for my girls I doubt I'd bother with a tree. They really aren't my thing. I prefer little decorations placed here and there.
DeleteYou are really on top of things! We no longer buy gifts except for the littles. Since they live in another state we send cash so their mom can shop for them and I don't pay the sales tax and shipping. Win Win. :-D
ReplyDeleteYou've got it made. I think cash in a card is a nice gift although some don't but that's okay. I love to receive cash and gift cards.
DeleteI LOVE Christmas.. So hard to believe it is getting so close. I too, start early , and try to make and buy my gifts early, so I can get them wrapped, then after Thanksgiving, I can totally enjoy the upcoming days.. so fun..
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas .....Best wishes on getting all your gifts made.
It is going to be a busy next couple of months that's for sure. But fun too. Hoping to get our Christmas cards made this weekend and start on our annual letter.
