Negative Commenting Isn't Welcome On My Blog

Easily 99.9% of the comments left on my blog are quite lovely and always positive.  Only .1% are negative and I choose to delete them.

Why?

Because it's my blog.

I don't expect everyone to agree with everything I do or say.  However, I do expect comments to be courteous.  My blog is a place for me to share and inspire.  I encourage you all to share as well.  I have found inspiration and learned a lot from my readers.  I appreciate the camaraderie we seem to share as well.  I've made a lot of friends along the way.

Negative, hateful and derogatory comments are not welcome on my blog.  That is just how it is.

Normally, I delete a negative or derogatory comment and that's the end of it.  However, someone has taken a serious dislike to my post My Big Project Is Finally Complete.  I read the comment and figured this person didn't fully read and understand the post.  And that's okay.

When I deleted the comment that was left it was quickly followed by yet another by that same person.  I deleted that one as well and I will continue to do so.

This particular person seems to have taken offense to the fact that I have chosen to purchase a brand new car because Dave Ramsey would not approve.  And that's okay too. But frankly, I don't really care if he would or not.  I personally do not follow Dave Ramsey.  Honestly, I really don't know a whole lot about the guy.  However, I happen to have friends who do and have benefitted greatly from his ideas.  I think that is wonderful.

I bought a brand new car because I can.  And that is what I wanted.  If I had wanted to buy a used car then I would have.  I financed it the way I did because that is what I wanted to do.  I don't have to justify anything to anyone.  I simply decided to share with my readers what I had decided to do.

To my 99.9% I thank you from the depths of my heart.  You are all so wonderful and appreciated.  I look forward to hearing from you again and again.  There will be many more new posts in our future.

To the remaining .1% I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  God Bless.

By the way.  I really love my new car!

  1. Good for you and enjoy your new car! I really think that people become really, really overzealous in their opinions and don't have any tolerance for someone who does anything different than they do. As for us - we're live and let live. Anyone living a responsible live and paying their own bills should get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!!

    1. I am so thrifty in nearly all aspects of my life but when it comes to cars I do indulge myself. And I don't feel guilty one little bit. :) Thanks for your kind comments.

  2. I have never understood negative comments myself... what's the point really? If you don't like something then just move on, why waste time with negativity? I don't know if you've ever seen the Apartment Therapy blog but MAN some people are just nasty on there... and Hometalk too!

Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy that new car!

    1. I have a couple fellow bloggers that have had their fair share. One gal had a scary stalker guy. He made me nervous for her. This commentor kind of reminded me of him. A little over the top.

Merry Christmas Tania and thank you for your kind support!

  4. Honestly nasty & rude commenters have taken away so much joy out of blogging for me... people with FAR too much time on their hands if you ask me! Your new car is purty! ;) Enjoy!!

  5. For us buying a used car would be just plain stupid. My husband works in an industry where at all 4 major car manufacturers my husband gets the vehicle at employee pricing. Then when you add in free financing and additional rebates, plus a lot better warranty. And the last vehicle we even got free oil changes. So for us, that's what we do. We also love driving brand new. And yes, we have 2 family members who have been downright rude, but we have the money and its our money to spend how we see fit. And actually one of these people I think is realizing what we mean because her husband just bought a brand new truck. Of course, the deal was too good for them to pass up. I just wanted to say so bad "I told you so". But I refrained. Besides, people can do what they want, I don't care! Ain't nobody got time for that!!!

    1. I priced new and used and the car I ended up with is actually priced a tad bit lower than a two year old car of the same make. It seemed a no brainer to me. Plus I'm not going to apologized for getting what I want. Thanks for your support. :)

  6. Well, I suppose there will always be the people that are rude and expect other people to see life the way they do. Not worth my time to interact with them. I enjoy your blog and am happy that you were able to purchase what you wanted.

  9. I think it is wonderful that you have been frugal enough to be able to buy yourself a new car. We work hard for our dollars and should spend them the way we feel is best for us. I have found that people who have negative things to say are just plain jealous of what you have and accomplish. I love your blog and I love the way that you worked so hard to try and find the best deal you could and when you did, you took advantage of it to safe you even more money. Please don't let the negative ninnies discourage you. You inspire so many of us.

  10. Oh good grief. Person sounds jealous. My husband drives a company lease and gets a new one every two years. Now leasing makes some frugal people insane!!! You know what, I don't care what anyone thinks. Our money decisions good or bad are our choices. We are the ones who deal with the outcome of those choices. Some people really just are too full of themselves.

    1. We all have to make the decisions that are right for us. I agree totally. If a lease is what works best for you then so be it. Who am I to say differently? :)

  11. I have to tell you that I wrote a blog post about 3 weeks ago that I did not finish or publish to my own blog yet, but it is just like this post of yours (honestly some of it is word for word the same.) I have been reading a lot of negative comments on other people's blogs that put down what others do, don't do, what they eat or don't eat, etc. I don't mind when someone gives an opinion or some constructive advice, but outright criticism is really unnecessary. I did not read the comments that were left on your blog post but I applaud you for not letting that person discourage you. You are so deserving of what you earn and you are inspiring to so many people who read your blog. Three cheers for you, my friend! ;)

  12. Your blog, your rules. I don't understand why anyone has to leave a negative comment on a blog. If I don't care for the way a person writes on their blog I just don't read it. Easier for them and for me that way.

Plus it is no one's business if you bought a new car, a used car or even a rickshaw

    1. Well I was actually thinking about a rickshaw... LOL. Thanks Anne! I admire anyone who is willing to put themselves out there and share. I learn so much from others.

  13. I always think of a new car as a good investment. You never know what you are getting when you buy a used one. No one has a right to shame you for any reason. Geez, I don't get it. I know others have had rude comments. If they don't like a blog then don't read it. Your car is beautiful. Enjoy.

    1. There is no need for that is there? I assume that people like that lack a lot of confidence in themselves and can only feel better by putting others down. Too bad really. I have a zero tolerance rule. :)

  16. I really enjoy your blog. I am very impressed by your commitment to managing your resources. I was very proud for you getting your new car! I bought my first new car at 23 in the Eighties. I was actually told as a single female to go home and get my husband or dad! You are an amazing role model for your girls. Go girl! Becky L.

    1. Wow Becky! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. When I bought my first car I was told to get my Dad to co-sign. He said no and I went back and they finally sold it to me. I did it all by myself and he knew that is exactly how I needed it to happen. Dad was right. I've been doing it on my own ever since. It's how I was raised. I want to show my girls the same. :)

    2. I just wanted to say - Nicely done. You don't have to take negativity especially on your own blog site. Yet you kept your dignity by responding firmly but nicely and not being baited by this person as I expect they wanted you to be. I have found a disturbing trend lately on social media and other online areas of people being down right mean and nasty to others. I think it's because they can hide behind the keyboard. Shame on them. I enjoy your blog and look forward to reading it. Take care.

    3. By the way - we bought a new car 10 years ago and still have it and we have been facilitators for the Dave Ramsey classes in many Churches over the years. We made the best decision for us at the time - a NEW car.

    4. Thank you Crystal. I think you may be right about "hiding behind a keyboard". It is shameful. I also believe firmly a positive mind = a positive life. I bought my truck brand new in 1997. I still have it! We need to do what is best for us - touche!

  17. I shouldn't laugh because you are upset about it, but this negative commenter is making me laugh. Of all the blogs I visit - I have NEVER EVER felt that this one incited any negative feelings EVER.

I should have told you long ago, but I am not in the habit of commenting, positive or negative, your blog is PERFECT. I really enjoy coming here, I love it if I can find something new to work into the rotation and I find you have found the perfect delivery for a blog. Good job!

  20. Suffice it to say it wasn't very nice. He disagreed with my decision to buy a new car, which is fine, but but he didn't need to be cruel about it. I chose to delete the comment and he fired back with even more cruelty. I deleted that one as well. Since this post he has stopped.

  21. We bought a new car in November due to the fact my husband's car was totaled when Bambi ran out in front of him. I did some research on used vs new and honestly for what we wanted, new was best. We keep our cars a long time unless we hit a deer.
