Proud mommy moment here. My oldest learned to make pie crust and she
is a natural. I don't know about you,
but making good pie crust was a real struggle for me. It took me a long time to get it right. Not her apparently. First try and she nailed it!
We started her off with a single
crust pie. She chose Dutch Apple Pie,
not necessarily an easy one but she wanted to try so why not? The recipe for the filling is an old Pampered
Chef recipe that we love and she pulled it off beautifully. Flaky crust, delicious filling, crunchy
topping. Heaven!
A week later she decided to do a
two crust pie. Not a simple top crust,
but a lattice topped pie. Dear lord!
Well, she nailed that one
too. A cherry pie that was not only
tasty, but almost to pretty to eat.
I tell you I couldn't be prouder
of my little baker. I told her she can
take over the pie baking responsibilities from here on out. Don't you get super excited when your kids
can do something as good, or in this case even
better, than you can?
Yep, she done good!
You have a right to be proud. Pie baking is an art. They both look delicious!
ReplyDeleteShe definitely has a knack for it. :)
DeletePies are not the easiest to bake, and to nail a crust as a beginner is a talent!
ReplyDeleteI think so too! I'm still pretty much hit and miss, myself. Ha, ha.
DeletePastry Artist in the making!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that something? LOL
DeleteWow, that really is amazing! ESPECIALLY for a first and second attempt! Kudos to her!
ReplyDeleteTotally puts me to shame, I tell you.
DeleteBeautiful girl, beautiful pie!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a sweetheart. Love her to pieces!
DeleteWell done, Older Daughter! What a great accomplishment! They both look so good! Cherry pie is a favorite of mine but I love apple pie, too, especially with ice cream! Yum!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Pie, in my opinion, is better than cake.
