Look What My Daughter Did!

Proud mommy moment here.  My oldest learned to make pie crust and she is a natural.  I don't know about you, but making good pie crust was a real struggle for me.  It took me a long time to get it right.  Not her apparently.  First try and she nailed it!

We started her off with a single crust pie.  She chose Dutch Apple Pie, not necessarily an easy one but she wanted to try so why not?  The recipe for the filling is an old Pampered Chef recipe that we love and she pulled it off beautifully.  Flaky crust, delicious filling, crunchy topping.  Heaven!

A week later she decided to do a two crust pie.  Not a simple top crust, but a lattice topped pie.  Dear lord!

Well, she nailed that one too.  A cherry pie that was not only tasty, but almost to pretty to eat.

I tell you I couldn't be prouder of my little baker.  I told her she can take over the pie baking responsibilities from here on out.  Don't you get super excited when your kids can do something as good, or in this case even better, than you can?

Yep, she done good!

  2. Pies are not the easiest to bake, and to nail a crust as a beginner is a talent!

  4. Well done, Older Daughter! What a great accomplishment! They both look so good! Cherry pie is a favorite of mine but I love apple pie, too, especially with ice cream! Yum!
