This month I went over a bit.
Not too much, but over nonetheless.
Part of that was due to a lot of extra teenagers hanging around that
needed to be fed. It happens! Fortunately I had the extra money to cover
it.
I also went over budget in the non food department by $1.25. Added to my deficit from my prior month I am
now in the hole $19.15. I bought feminine
hygiene stuff, catfood and litter. With
all of us using the girlie products I may need to seriously consider upping the
budget a bit. $25.00 a month might not
be all that realistic anymore.
I started the month with $151.00 which sounded like a lot to
me. The ending balance turned out to be $173.87. Now I'm 22.87 in the hole going into
July. Hopefully I'll be able to make
that up quickly. Fortunately a lot of
what I bought is for next month so it shouldn't be too bad.
I bought a lot of fresh produce plus milk and two large packages of steak. A lot of the meat went into the freezer and
we have quite a bit of it waiting for future meals. I also bought more blueberries to freeze for
yogurt, muffins and pancakes. 10 cans of
pasta sauce went into the pantry as a big stock up item. I also stocked up on cereal as we tend to
enjoy it a lot more in the summer.
So here is the list of food I bought. The items highlighted in red are my stock up
items:

Did you stock up on anything this month? Any super deals?
This budget month runs from
June 1 through June 30.
I really like the apple pie filling from $Store. So when I was there I bought 4. The cans are filled with apples, not filling. Plus they had cherry & bought 4 of them. Made in the USA. Preparing for holidays... have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI've bought the cherry and it is really good. More cherries than saucy stuff and not overly sickening sweet. The apple is good? I'm going to get some. :)
DeleteYou found some good bargains..
ReplyDeleteI found whole chickens for $1.00 a lb.. They were small chickens, which I like.. We grill them on the grill or fry them. I bought 4 for the freezer.
Have a great day.. Judy
Whole chickens are a great value. You can do so many things with them and then make broth for soup! Take care.
DeleteWhat stores do you like to go to? Im in Boise too and I'm wanting to figure out the best stores for deals
ReplyDeleteI read the ads to decide exactly which store. Usually I shop at Fred Meyer, Albertson's and Cash & Carry.
