My Grocery Budget 2018 - August Update

I had really good intentions of having another $20 per week grocery challenge, but it didn't happen. I got myself caught up in stocking my pantry with school lunch items and a few sales and that was pretty much it. The good thing is I am well stocked for the girls to make their lunches each day as well as plenty of breakfast options in the morning. For the remainder of the year I won't even need my extra $10 a month I usually set aside for those things.

I was able to fill in some gaps in my pantry as well as to stock up on bacon, sausage and added some more chicken breasts to the freezer. I also bought two very large pork roasts on sale for 99¢ a pound! One of those roasts immediately ended up in my slow cooker and became pork verde. Delicious! And I have several containers tucked into my freezer for future quick meals.

Not only did I not do the challenge again this month, but I was also over budget for what I would've spent with my regular budget (sigh). That being said I don't think I did too bad getting all that I did for the amount I ended up spending. Especially as I used $50 of my found money to pay for my trip to Winco. However, over budget is still over budget, so next month I'll be going ahead and taking on the $20 a week challenge and doing my best to stick to it this time!
