Yep! You heard me right. We completed our back-to-school shopping for
the next school year already! I have found the best time to shop for my
children's school shoes and clothing is immediately after school gets out (this time we literally went shopping right after school let out on the last day). Everything that is leftover from the prior
year is on deep clearance and this year was no exception.
I had received a $25 gift
card in the mail from DSW (I signed up for their store rewards program a couple
years ago) so our first stop was to see what they had and they had plenty. My daughter chose a nice pair of sturdy, good
quality sneakers with gel insoles, arch support and thick soles on sale for
$59.99. Less the $25 gift card I only
paid $35 plus tax for her school shoes. Done!
Next was to troll the
mall and see what they had on clearance.
We started with JC Penney but they were out of her size so we checked a
few other stores before landing at Aeropostle and picking up two pair of blue
jeans on clearance for $19.99 and then we received another $5 discount on top
of that because we bought two pair and that was the deal they had going.
Another $35 plus tax for a total of $74.20 spent on school clothes and shoes!! Done and done!
Right now my daughter has
plenty of tops, sweaters, hoodies, jackets and a winter coat that are all in
good condition and still fit (her closet is packed!). Socks and undies at Christmas last year
stocked her up and I plan to give socks again as Christmas gifts (already purchased on
Christmas clearance in December). New
undies (eBay had the best price last year) will be given as birthday gifts this
year. I picked up a really nice backpack
at Walmart last winter on clearance for $2 so she has that to use next year. And! I have a well stocked school supply bin so
that is all covered as well. We are seriously good
to go!
Did I mention my youngest
is now a senior in high school? Oh my
goodness, how on earth did that happen? I swear the other day I was just getting her ready for kindergarten.
Good job!! I’ll bet she’s excited for her senior year!!
ReplyDeleteShe really is. :)
DeleteWay to go!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meg!
DeleteWow a senior! Time goes by fast. My granddaughter finishes the 9th grade invasion few days. Just seems like yesterday I was putting tiny little dresses on her.....
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling. It has flown by so fast.
