Last Week’s Thrifty Moves

The Sunday paper had four coupon circulars inside as well as a free trial offer of Prevention magazine and a free copy of the book Healing Foods with no obligation to continue with a subscription.  I decided to take them up on their offer and ordered the freebies.

The Fred Meyer ad had coupons for milk at 99¢ a half gallon.  I was able to stockpile 12 half gallon containers of milk in our freezer.  At 99¢ each, less two 25¢ coupons and a 15¢ bag refund my final price came in at 93¢ per gallon!

I also picked up four bags of frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts $5.99 each and 4 boxes of pasta 79¢ each less $1 coupon making the final price 54¢ each.

I used funds from February’s and March’s grocery budget for the chicken as I don’t intend to use any of it until then and the same with 8 containers of the milk.  I always have to be careful doing this that I don’t get carried away and end up shorting myself so much that we are out of funds at year end or that I have to have a really tight month to get back on track.  Now that we no longer have the extra $25 stock up budget each month it is definitely going to be more of a challenge.

I picked up four packs of sugar-free gum at Fred Meyer for 59¢ each to put away for Easter baskets.

I took the girls shoe shopping and was able to get them really nice Avia tennis shoes on clearance - $17.99 and $23.99.  I was very pleased.

I received a coupon for a free coffee from Starbucks through WeHeartFreebies.com.  I also perused my favorite online coupon sites and printed off a lot of really great coupons including the two I used for milk.

I made 8 more granny squares using up my yarn scraps.

I sent out thank you notes written on homemade note cards.

On my way to Bunco I dropped off my water bill in the drop box and saved a stamp.

I sold three items at my Etsy store this week!

I made refried beans from scratch.

The chickens blessed us with 13 eggs this week.

    1. I know what you mean. Milk is on the list here for things on the rise. We are going to cut our meat consumption this year so we get more mileage out of our stockpile in the freezer.

There is a link to Etsy through my facebook page.
